TO DIE FOR FOOD OF THE WEEK - VOLUME 14

Every week I compile a collection of the most mouthwatering food photos that I shot in Vancouver restaurants and in my kitchen. The hashtag #todiefor denotes an item truly knee weakening in flavour.

Yellow Gazpacho by Railtown Cafe - a summery feature dish at Railtown's brand new eatery. Topped with delicious crunchy bread and juicy chopped prawns, this is one tangy, textured soup I'd return for once a week. Try a Banana Walnut Chocolate muffin, too - they're made in-house and phenomenal.

Railtown Cafe - After only one visit, I'm tempted to say...this might be the coolest new restaurant cafe in town. The herb-filled in-house greenhouse only has something to do with it. You'll notice the cool design - huge wooden table, cropped leather bound bar stools, art you'll want for your own home - and a team of chefs prepping gourmet sandwiches and salads galore. These guys make nearly everything they serve from scratch.

Halibut by Le Gavroche - Vancouver's longest-standing French restaurants hasn't lost its touch. This gorgeously plated, perfectly cooked halibut was a feature item who's return to the menu should be anticipated. The best part of the dining experience has got to be atmosphere, however. Set in a heritage home, it's quite, cozy and romantic. Perfect for date night.

Oatmeal by Commune Cafe - one of the few places in town that serves a straight up healthy breakfast without "hidden unhealthy ingredients". Their breakfast sandwiches - made with whole wheat English muffins, free range eggs and avocado - are great, too.

Fruit Salad with Sweet Croutons - chop up any old slice of banana bread and bake until crispy. Use as croutons in a fancy fruit salad. Credit for this ideas goes to Jillian Harris - ingenius! Try it at home.
