$5 Planter Boxes!

Did you catch the story about the GRILLED CHEESE GIVEAWAY that Christine posted about earlier in the week? It was the result of a Neighbourhood Small Grant from the Vancouver Foundation and the City of Vancouver.

Did you catch the story about the GRILLED CHEESE GIVEAWAY that Christine posted about earlier in the week? It was the result of a Neighbourhood Small Grant from the Vancouver Foundation and the City of Vancouver.

These types of grants help to build community and strengthen connections right where people live - in their neighbourhoods - by supporting residents like you who have small but powerful ideas to bring people together and make your neighbourhood vibrant. Grants range anywhere from $50 to $500 (with two grants of $1000 per neighbourhood) and are designed to help make your project a reality. Learn more about them HERE.

Another grant-funded project came to my attention today and I just had to share it: it's these $5 planter boxes initiated by five grade 10 students:

Their project is called "Boulevard Vancouver Edible Gardens" and basically what it entails is them building planter boxes and selling them to neighbours for vegetable growing on their boulevards.

$5 includes the construction as well as delivery, and they also have seeds to sell. Learn all about their project HERE and consider making the street in front of your house more awesome!
