Since 1910 the Pacific National Exhibition has been taking place at Hastings Park, juuuust this side of Burnaby. A definitive part of summer in Vancouver, it was originally known as "The Industrial Exhibition", showcasing BC's agriculture as well as technology and, in a roundabout way, the economy. It was a place where technological debuts were made, including the first rotary telephone in the Pacific Northwest!

The PNE is owned by the City Of Vancouver and the things I've always loved about it the most have little to do with technology; they are the Livestock Barns! Filled with agriculture from many corners of our province, cruising this section of the Fair is a chance for folks like myself (and you) who might not find themselves out on a farm all that often to hang out with a bunch of critters in the city. I titled this post as the top 5 reasons to visit the PNE but what I really meant was "these are the top 5 animals I took photos of at the PNE this summer".

Alpaca

Alpaca!

Bunnies

Bunnies!

Bees

I'm deathly allergic to bees but they made my Top 5 because they're behind glass where they can't kill me!

This calf!

Sheep

Fluffy sheep!

You've still got about a week left to get out there and see these fuzzballs for yourself. And not only can you see these fuzzballs but you can actually pet most of them too. Don't miss out!
