START YOUR WEEK RIGHT WITH THE V.I.A. WEEKLY PLAYLIST WEEK 139: Matt Clarke

SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver.

sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. With over 25,000+ artists, boasting more than 140,000+ tracks, the CBC Music/CBC Radio 3 web site is the absolute ultimate authority, and the home, of independent music in Canada. With that massive library along with tools for members (free to join!), we’re taking advantage of what they’ve set up by bringing you a fresh batch of music every week featuring local groups who have tracks (entire albums, even!) on the R3 site.

This week's music playlist is dipping into the theatre side of the city! We've got a playlist from Matt Clarke, who adapted the Kurt Vonnegut short story The Euphio Question for the stage and is directing and starring in it as well. And the music bonus is: the play features the songs of Vancouver's own Sunny Pompeii!

Curious what The Euphio Question is about? Here's the synopsis:

"A young physicist discovers radio frequencies coming from empty spots in outer space that, when amplified and rebroadcast, have a powerful effect on human beings: pure and total euphoria. Questions are raised about how to commodify such an effect, the ethics of exploiting it, and the nature and balance of human happiness."

I honestly cannot wait to see the play, it opens tomorrow (Tuesday October 2nd) and runs til October 7th at the Carousel Theatre! Find out the times and how to reserve tickets on the facebook page.
