Last week we let you know about Compassion Into Action, an annual event spearheaded by Nature's Path Organics aimed at raising food to donate to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, used by 27,000 people each week.

Now in case you didn't read that last part: 27,000 PEOPLE USE THE GREATER VANCOUVER FOOD BANK EACH AND EVERY WEEK. That's a lot. The money raised and food donations collected at Compassion Into Action will go a long way towards feeding them.

I headed up to the event for lunch like many others did, enjoying some chili, fruit and granola bars and then I paid for my meal by donation. I then checked out the marketplace they set up where you could shop for fruits and vegetables, cereals, soups, juice and more, taking home some Gorilla Munch and some Eat More Sprouts... also paid for by donation.

And as a nice surprise I ran into two of my very good friends while I was there! Mark Brand of Save On Meats (left) was serving up his veggie chili for all and Cory Ashworth (right) from The Peak 102.7FM was there broadcasting his show and interviewing people like Arran Stephens, the founder and CEO of Nature's Path, whom he's pictured with here.

All told Compassion Into Action 2012 raised $118,000 worth of food for the hungry and it also raised the bar in terms of giving to those who need it. See you there next year.
