The 3nd Annual Movember Mo-Off to be held at the Electric Owl November 30th with Live Music, Big Prizes, Photo Booths and Lots of 'Stashes

Movember is not only an excuse to grow a mustache - it's a month-long initiative to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. Men are encouraged to register, grow a ‘stache, and get pledges supporting their mo-growth.

The Movember Mo-Off is a night celebrating the accomplishments of those who have been harvesting their soup strainers. The main event of the evening is a mustache contest, where designated ladies roam through the crowd and nominate the best Mo’s. In a true Mo-Off showdown, the crowd will decide on the most magnificent Mo. The winner will walk away with an impressive prize pack:

- $500 to spend at Dayton Boots

- Gift Certificate to get pampered at JD's Salon

- Concert Tickets courtesy of the Georgia Straight

- $40 at the Cannibal Cafe to indulge in the city's best burgers

- And all of the 10 nominees will walk away with a prize pack of Movember goodies, including Schick razors, deodorant, shaving gel and more

Then, for those who are ready to part ways with their lip neighbours, the in-house barbarettes will be ready to offer free shaves, which will be documented by us here at VIA! (Check the first year's AND last year's!)

They will also have a photo booth courtesy of Love Tree Photography, with free print outs and props. And our friends at Phillips Brewery will be giving away free beers to the first 50 people to arrive!

Keeping everyone and their lip warmers entertained through the evening will be: Twin River, Redbird, and Jody Glenham.

This year also marks the debut of the "Dudes with Beards and Bikes And Cats" Calendar. Featuring fine Vancouver Gentleman (including musicians from The Matinee, Portage and Main, and Dominique Fricot) and their facial hair and furry friends, the calendar will be available at the event for $20, with proceeds being shared between Movember and the Vancouver Orphaned Kitten Rescue Association.
