Dear editor of VIA,

I have a beyond awesome, one-of-a-kind piece of furniture in need of a home in Vancouver. The ONE6 bench was constructed as part of the STRUCTURE program sponsored by IDSWest and BC Wood.  The piece is the result of my collaboration with James Spouler, in the transformation of laminated veneer lumber beams (LVL) into a designed solution to showcase at Buildex and IDSWest 2013.

Spanning six meters (20 feet) in length, the bench is designed to accommodate many people in a large space. The design and span of this bench is unprecedented. Everything about the bench says BC Product; Douglas Fir and manufacturing from the Columbia Valley, CNC milling in Abbostford and Designed in Vancouver. ONE6‘s unique presence is an awesome addition to any space, leaving a lasting impression on those who take refuge upon it.

The bench is temporarily stored in my shop in East Van. We’re looking for a space our bench can call home. Ideally, somewhere public and sheltered from the elements. I know such a space exists in this beautiful city, which is why I need your help in finding it.

We don't have a price and aren't looking for a sale. We’d like to loan the bench with the only stipulation that it be cared for. Any inquiries or requests for the bench should be sent to pat@dalycompany.ca, with a description and photo of the space. More information can be found here, or if your a wood nerd then here.

Regards,

Pat Christie
