Introducing the second of Vancouver Cycle Chic's four short films: Heart and Soul, starring Cecily.

Cecily is a librarian at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch. Born in Atlanta, Cecily landed in Vancouver thanks to the flip of a coin (tails meant stay in Georgia). Biking has been a part of her life ever since she completed graduate school at UBC and made a conscious decision to minimize the distance between work and home.

Favourite quote from the film

"[Bicycling] puts the city on a human level for me, and it just makes me feel like I'm a part of the city instead of feeling apart from the city."

Fun fact

Filming the moving shots meant pulling our director of photography around in a bike trailer usually used to haul beer, groceries or children. Keep an eye out for the rig on the edge of the frame around the 1:12 mark.

Next week we’ll release our third short film, profiling Shawn Henderson, who produces and DJs under the name “Bikes." Check back here to watch it.
