3 reasons why you should spend Canada Day with the Canadians

Baseball season is something many folks on our editorial team look forward to every year, myself one of the most enthusiastically. I hope this is the first of many posts you'll see on V.I.A.

Baseball season is something many folks on our editorial team look forward to every year, myself one of the most enthusiastically. I hope this is the first of many posts you'll see on V.I.A. celebrating our hometown team, The Vancouver Canadians, this summer. With it I'd like to point out three reasons why I think you should attend the July 1 Canada Day game (hopefully other folks from our team will share more in the months ahead).

1. Going to a game is accessible to everyone.

It's a great time and you can get in to see a game for $10 if you buy a pack of tickets in advance. A friend texted me from the game we attended today to say "Hey, we're sitting in the front row right behind home plate!", and this wasn't a friend who has money to burn. You can get front row seats for $22!!! HERE is a link to ticketing info.

2. When the team wins, everyone wins.

Today Daniel Klein hit a home run out of the park in the 5th inning, putting the Canadians on the board. He JUST missed the gigantic A&W root beer mug cutout that sits on the back wall (you can see the side of it on the very left in the photo below) and even though he didn't hit it they decided to honour their pledge to give every single person in the stadium a certificate for a free Teen Burger and a root beer if and when that happens. Every. Single. Person. We all walked out of there today with vouchers for free burgers and root beer!

Check the details being displayed on the scoreboard above. Thanks to Daniel Klein's home run we all got free burgers and root beer!

3. Nobody cares how old you are.

Old folks, teenagers, 20-30-40-somethings, families with school aged kids and even babies... there's something for everyone at these games (and yes they serve beer, and they also have a section with a bouncy castle).

My wife and I have been taking this little guy to games since he was 2! He loves the Canadians just as much as we do.

4 (BONUS). BOOM!

The July 1 game is one of 9 games this year featuring a Fireworks Extravaganza! At the end of the game, win or lose, there's a sweet fireworks show.
