Hey hey!

Back on June 17th Bob shared some information about our friends at Five Hole for Food, and their efforts to tackle hunger by combining two great Canadian institutions, playing hockey and being charitable. Since July 3rd the organization has been travelling across Canada from East to West, hosting hockey games and gathering donations for local food banks. The formula is a simple one, show up to an event with a hockey stick and a non-perishable food item (or a bunch of non-perishable food items), have a great time, help a great cause. While the formula is simple, the results are impressive. With four dates yet to be completed and tallied, the tour has generated more than 132,000 pounds of food donations for local food banks. When you consider the hard truth that more Canadians are turning to food banks for assistance than ever before, you have a pretty compelling case for getting out and playing some hockey this weekend.

The Vancouver edition of Five Hole for Food goes down this Saturday on the 800 block of Granville St between noon and six pm. Show up anytime with a hockey stick and a food donation, everything else is taken care of.

Have fun out there.
