The Local Food Challenge is officially complete! As part of the final day, local smoothie favourite The Juice Truck organized lemonade stands around the city run by volunteer kids, and all proceeds went towards Growing Chefs. I took my bike on the Seaside Route and right as I approached Granville Island caught one of the stands. Seriously, best lemonade ever and it was healthy!

I visited the Public Market and my eyes lit up as I saw a sign for A Bread Affair, who supply some of my favourite breads. In the spirit of the Local Food Challenge, I picked up a loaf of the Okanagan Apple Sunflower. I also made another visit to Edible and restocked my favourite strawberry jam by Missing Goat, smoked BC albacore tuna from Estevan Tuna,  and my favourite ice cream ever by Earnest Ice Cream - who are celebrating their first ice cream parlour on 3992 Fraser Street. Can't wait to check that one out! And let me tell you, they nailed the flavour on this London Fog.

I wanted to whip up a quick lunch so I put my julienne peeler to use and made zucchini noodles aka zoodles. Mixed in with the zoodles was the Classico flavour of locally made Sugo Sauce that I picked up from Harvest last week. Love the sauce and can't wait to try out the 'Whore Style' flavour, purely based on the name.

I topped the zoodles off with parmesan and basil and ta-da, lunch is served!

If you are interested in knowing the great work Growing Chefs does or would even like to consider volunteering in their Classroom Gardening Program, please visit their website. You may also make a donatation through their site in case you missed out on the chance to do so through the Local Food Challenge.

Thank you to everyone who supported this challenge and it was a pleasure getting to know the different locally food aligned places in this city a little more. I'll be sure to feature more of these great spots in the city in the future that are committed to delivering quality, locally sourced food because Vancouver knows where it's at.
