OUR LOCAL CRAFT brings you the essential deets of craft beer brewed in BC.  The art of craft brewing is one that relies on creativity, quality ingredients, and industrious people who have a passion for great beer.  So raise a glass to the beer ‘round here and get to know BC’s brewing community.

Leigh and Jason Stratton of Bridge Brewing Company

The Beer: North Shore Pale –This is and easy drinking pale ale, registering 5.5% alcohol and 30 IUBs (International Bitterness Units).

Bridge Brewing Company’s signature beer is the unfiltered North Shore Pale.  Its made with Canadian Pilsner malt and German Noble hops mixed with other northwest hop varieties.

The Brewery:  Bridge Brewing Company

Bridge Brewing Company located on the North Shore is known as Vancouver’s first nanobrewery.  The brewery opened its doors in July 2012 and have been busy ever since.  While the brewery is located in a nondescript and somewhat lifeless industrial park, walk through the doors of Bridge Brewing and everything changes; the patrons are lively, the staff friendly, and you get the sense that people come here not only for the beer, but for the company too.   We chose to feature North Shore Pale because it’s Bridge Brewing Company’s signature beer.

The People:  Husband and wife team Jason and Leigh Stratton.

The Pairing:  When asked what the North Shore Pale goes best with, Leigh joked and answered “A glass!  Or smoked Gouda cheese.”

The Location:  Bridge Brewing Company’s beer can be found at the Harbour side BC Liquor store, and a number of private liquor stores.  However, the best place to taste their craft is their tasting room located at 115-2433 Dollarton Hwy in North Vancouver, where you can meet the team and see the brewery.  Fill your growler for $12, sip on a pint for $5 or partake in some samples, which are always free.

Fun Fact: Leigh Stratton runs the tasting room with ease and confidence, and she knows how to make her customers feel welcome.  In addition to greeting every person who walks through with a friendly smile and pouring them tasters before they’ve even had a chance to sit down, she knows the majority of her customers by name.  Show up, introduce yourself, and after a few visits, she’ll probably know your name too.
