Ghost Salmon at the Four Seasons

The Four Seasons Vancouver launched a new art exhibition space in their lower lobby last night. Kicking off with a fabulous collection of sculptures called Ghost Salmon by artist Paul Burke with support by Anna Gustafson, five of these (large!) fish shown below are on display inside and two of them near the Howe Street sidewalk, visible as you walk by.

The installation has to do with the power, strength and fragility of the species. In the words of the artist, "The whole idea of this piece is to celebrate and cause us to pay attention to this most important animal in this part of the world.", which is pretty much exactly in line with what we do here at V.I.A.. So we're celebrating this celebration, and encouraging you to go have a look.

While you're there head upstairs to Yew seafood + bar and check out the smaller installation that they bought from Burke for the entryway. Like a tiny version of Ghost Salmon, and not for sale like the piece downstairs.

All of this is part of the hotel's partnership with Salt Spring Island's Blue Horse Gallery, which I hope to bring you to in the coming weeks as I'm heading over to the island on a Super, Neighbours travel writing adventure. Stay tuned! And in the meantime learn more at fourseasons.com/vancouver and bluehorse.ca
