Vancouver on the Cheap: The Sharing Tour

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap".

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

The Sharing Project is straight-up one of those things that confirms just how great Vancouver can be. It started with a research initiative looking to engage Vancouverites interested in a sharing economy, and has become a tour of clothing swaps, potlucks, and idea-swapping on how to create more sharing economies in each neighbourhood. Some of the events have already happened, but there are more to come! Tonight is Mount Pleasant (hence the day-early post), next week is The West End, and then next month dates are being confirmed for Riley Park, Dunbar, Marpole, and Kerrisdale.

The awesome cheapness comes in TWO counts here: one for a clothing swap, where you can get free clothes while getting rid of your unwanted items, and one for getting involved in conversations to create a sharing economy, which is really just cheapness for all. Win-win!

PS: A brief Cheap Thing Shout Out to Theatre at UBC opening The Seagull this week! I'll give them a proper feature down the line, but for now you should know that you can get anyone 16 or under in for $2. A super cheap way to get the expose the young folk in your life to a little culture.
