Linking the historical record and the living experiences of its visitors to what is happening socially, politically, and culturally NOW; we honour the material culture of the city. May 29th, 2014: Museum of Vancouver celebrates 120th birthday with $1.20 admission day

This major milestone will also be recognized by BC Place, who will illuminate the ‘Northern Lights’ roof façade in the Museum’s diverse colours from sunset until 11:00pm. MOV’s celebration will continue on their social media channels with photos of artifacts representing 120 years of accessions, shared daily at 1:20pm, for the next 120 days. MOV’s 120th anniversary is not only an acknowledgment of history, but of Vancouver’s history. As MOV CEO Nancy Noble explained, “In Canadian terms, we are an old museum with an old collection. For 120 years this museum has been the repository of the material culture and collective memory of this city. We are a reflection of Vancouver’s identity over time. That is valuable in and of itself.”

Time: 10:00 am - 8:00pm

Admission: $1.20 / Members always FREE
