Sunday, June 15th, 2014: Museum of Vancouver celebrates Father's Day with special offer

Some of you don't know what to get your dad for Father's Day and some of you are just frugal... Either way, we've got a solution for you. On Sunday, June 15th, we're offering admission for your dad for FREE with any other full paying admission (prices below). Bring him along and let him check out the Ford Fairlane in our 1950s Gallery or the taxidermy in our Rewilding Vancouver special exhibition.

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014: Rewilding Vancouver: Talk & Tour with MOV Curator Viviane Gosselin

The first major exhibition on urban historical ecology in Canada, Rewilding Vancouver features 12 tableaux that mix taxidermy, material culture, projection and sound to reveal the natural “understory” of familiar Vancouver locations. Guest curated by J.B. MacKinnon (co-author of The 100-Mile Diet), Rewilding Vancouver applies locally the global themes in MacKinnon’s recently published book The Once and Future World. Join us for an in-depth talk and tour with MOV Curator of Contemporary Culture Viviane Gosselin, who will delve into the details of the exhibitions striking roster of artifacts and design.

Sunday, July 6th, 2014: Passages: Cultural Legacies of the Komagata Maru

Jazz, poetry and the visual arts meet in this evening of cross-media storytelling. Inspired by the Komagata Maru Episode and other narratives of the South Asian Canadian experience, eight brilliant artists take to the stage to produce a collaborative work.

Time: 6:00 - 9:00pm

Sunday, July 13th, 2014: Family Exploration Day: Hands on with Rewilding

Step into the wild through a hands-on, family-friendly day of exploration of the Rewilding Vancouver exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver! Tackle mysteries of the local food chain, ecosystems, and explore questions about "what belongs" in a wild urban environment through puzzles, art activities, and storytelling. From 10:00am-3:00pm, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum will present special sessions where families are invited to touch and explore local specimens, and learn about adaptations and biodiversity. From 3:15pm-4:15pm there'll be Rewilding-themed storytelling by Naomi Steinberg. Perfect for families and children of all ages for a great day exploring Rewilding Vancouver!
