The secret life of British Columbia's official tartan

I made a bit of a discovery this this week while doing some research on the Province of British Columbia and its official symbols. I say a "bit" because it's something that's been under my nose since the 1990's and I didn't even realize it.

I made a bit of a discovery this this week while doing some research on the Province of British Columbia and its official symbols. I say a "bit" because it's something that's been under my nose since the 1990's and I didn't even realize it. It is a discovery however because I didn't find mention of it anywhere on the internet.

So. Did you know that the tartan worn by our friend, "The best interviewer in the world" (according to Pharrell), Vancouver's very own Nardwuar the Human Serviette, is the OFFICIAL TARTAN of this province of ours? I find it hard to believe that I'm the first to make this semi-obvious statement on the internet but not even Nard's WIKIPEDIA ENTRY mentions it. His has a bit more blue in it than the official one but I believe it to be a nod to BC. I'll let you know if he tells me otherwise.

UPDATE:

Nardwuar tells us that his tartan is actually "Macbeth Modern", not the official British Columbia one as I concluded in this article. My apologies to anyone who was offended by my lack of knowledge on these patterns, which are apparently much more specific than I originally assumed!
