Today's dog featured in Dogtown Vancouver is Wishart, Rob and Erin's pup. Here's what they had to say about him...

BREED: Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

HOOD: City home: Gastown.  Field work: on a little island, off the grid, off northeastern Vancouver Island.

FAVOURITE SNACK: The one after the first snack you offer. He knows you're holding back on the good stuff.

OTHER INFO: Wishart is a whale and dolphin-detecting dog for our environmental charity, Oceans Initiative.  We're not sure if he hears, smells or sees the dolphins we study, but he detects them miles before we do, and lets us know they're there with a bark that sounds like throat singing.  He is integrated into every aspect of our work.  He's on the boat with us when we're in the field.  In the city, when we're analyzing data and writing reports, he won't leave our side.  And during our latest fellowship at the University of St Andrews, he lived in Scotland for 2 years and peed on the 18th hole of the Old Course.  He loves Vancouver's beaches, from Crab Park to Spanish Banks, and has a mental map of which Gastown stores and restaurants give him cookies.  .
