This unique Vancouver store is doing it right, IRL and on Instagram

"How did I not already know about this?" is a question I ask myself when I happen upon cool businesses, and it's the first thing I thought this past weekend as I stepped into Step Back in Kitsilano.

"How did I not already know about this?" is a question I ask myself when I happen upon cool businesses, and it's the first thing I thought this past weekend as I stepped into Step Back in Kitsilano. Just West of MacDonald on the South side of Broadway, you'll see in the photo below that this little store is packed with local vintage awesomeness as well as products that would make any Canadian home a little more inviting.

step-back

Self described as "A beautifully curated space filled with one of a kind vintage stock & unique new items for your life" there's no arguing that husband and wife team, Chris and Robin, do a wonderful job of sourcing the products in this store and making sure there's a balance between old stuff and stuff that feels old. Residents of the neighbourhood for 12 years, they've been running the store just blocks from their home since 2005 and last winter made the move a couple blocks East.

Dip your toes in to their stream on Instagram at @stepback_ca and you'll be privy to some of the magic that they're bringing in to put on the shelves. They not only share photos of recent finds but they take you along for the ride to the places where they source some incredibly Canadian pieces. The bus roll you see pictured above was obtained from a guy in the Kootenays, and everything in the place has more than one story to tell.

They're at 2936 W Broadway and you can also find them at stepback.ca. Well worth a visit in real life and a follow on social media.
