The 2014 Most Awesome Awards are launching NOW!

A while back we asked you, the people of this great city of ours, to contribute to V.I.A. by nominating people, places and things that you feel make your city more awesome.

Some clear favourites stood out (Stanley Park, the SPCA, the Vancouver Public Library, for example) but we also wanted to highlight the usually-unsung people (and things!) that we think make Vancouver extra special: the friends and neighbours making a difference in the lives of others, and the hidden places that you love. We intentionally left the ballot free from categories with the hopes that you'd deliver some magic that we may not have already known about, and boy did you deliver.

Over the next 40 days we're going to be sharing one winner per day; a number of these are ones that you tipped us off to and others are our editors' (and some friends') picks. After we've introduced you to them all we'll be opening up the nominations for the 2015 Most Awesome Awards, so get your thinking caps on as you read these and be sure to weigh in at the end and put a word in for your Most Awesome.

We're excited that TELUS is helping us bring you this first incarnation of our Most Awesome Awards for 2014. A longtime friend of V.I.A., TELUS is passionate about giving back to the community by recognizing, celebrating and supporting great community partners, friends and neighbours making a difference in the lives of others.

MOST-AWESOME-AWARDS-2014 A while back we asked you, the people of this great city of ours, to contribute to V.I.A. by nominating people, places and things that you feel make your city more awesome. We had several hundred nominations making it tough to narrow it down but we're confident that the ones our editorial panel voted in as the winners will remind you of a lot of the awesomeness that keeps you in Vancouver, as well as inspire you to help to keep it awesome in the future.
