It’s that time of year again. The cold snap has set in and people everywhere have begun to burrow down into their comforting hibernation rituals. Our favourite? Cozying up with that perfect story.

It’s that time of year again. The cold snap has set in and people everywhere have begun to burrow down into their comforting hibernation rituals. Our favourite? Cozying up with that perfect story. All to say, it’s the perfect time of year to welcome the third season of A Good Book Drive.

With every new season comes change and this year A Good Book Drive couldn’t have anticipated just how far your gale force of support would carry them forward. For starters, what could top the City of Vancouver officially proclaiming November 1st “A Good Book Drive Day” last year? This year, the city’s one-upped themselves, proclaiming the entire month of November “A Good Book Drive Month”. It’s a lot to live up to, but with your help we know the community can do it.

To start off on the right page, the AGBD folks have made it easier for all of you kind book lovers to donate your brand new copies of your favourite childhood stories. Check out their list of stellar community supporters hosting A Good Book Box at these drop-off locations.

And, drum roll please, this year they're welcoming their first ever chapter expansion: Say hello to A Good Book Drive, Brooklyn! It will be incredible to see all the stories and local literary flavour the BKLYN community brings to the Drive. This year, the Brooklyn drive will be supporting Brooklyn Community Services.

For Vancouver, this year’s deserving recipient is One to One - A Children’s Literacy Program. ONE TO ONE is a unique children’s literacy program that provides one-to-one tutoring to children in elementary schools during regular school hours. The program provides kids with an opportunity to practice their reading in an environment where it’s okay to take risks, make mistakes, and learn at their own pace.

There you have it. Another great month of books to look forward to and another incredible year of giving. Can’t wait to hear all your stories.

A Good Book Drive is an annual book drive to bring stories to a new generation of readers, and support kids in need of new books. Running through the month of November, A Good Book Drive will be inspiring Vancouverites to purchase a new copy of their favorite kids’ book and deliver it to set locations throughout the city. At these drop off locations you can personalize your donation with a special bookplate, sharing the story of why that book is special to you. All books will be donated to this year’s book drive recipient, One to One: A Children's Literacy Program. Share your favourite stories with A Good Book Drive on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
