Singer and Burns Lake, B.C. native Ndidi Onukwulu didn’t always foresee her stunning musical career, having coveted the life of a detective growing up. To prepare herself for this future, she spent a disproportionate amount of her allowance on learning the art of sleuthing - no, not from Veronica Mars - but from Nancy Drew books. A fun fact she shares about the “teenage titan-haired detective” is that though the books are penned under pseudonym Carolyn Keene, the stories were actually written by various authors over the years.

Reading these books takes her back to her adventurous escapes into the wilds of the B.C. forests on lazy summer days, the perfect surroundings for her quiet, quirky and inquisitive demeanour.

A Good Book Drive is an annual book drive to bring stories to a new generation of readers, and support kids in need of new books. Running through the month of November, A Good Book Drive will be inspiring Vancouverites to purchase a new copy of their favorite kids’ book and deliver it to set locations throughout the city. At these drop off locations you can personalize your donation with a special bookplate, sharing the story of why that book is special to you. All books will be donated to this year’s book drive recipient, One to One: A Children’s Literacy Program. Share your favourite stories with A Good Book Drive onTwitter, Facebook and Instagram.
