This is Vancouver's Most Awesome Walking Bridge in 2014

"This bridge is located over the railroad tracks next to my friend’s house and I’ve walked over it a couple of times since I came to Vancouver. It gives you a mysterious feeling, because you are closed off for 5 minutes from the outside world.

mostawesome2014 "This bridge is located over the railroad tracks next to my friend’s house and I’ve walked over it a couple of times since I came to Vancouver. It gives you a mysterious feeling, because you are closed off for 5 minutes from the outside world. It is a bridge which feels like a hallway, thanks to the “carpet” on the floor. The streetlights give it nice lighting from every side, as well, which makes it look like a tunnel to heaven."

This bridge over the tracks in Strathcona is currently the subject of a musical production called The Raymur Mothers - They Wouldn't Take No for an Answer, running now until November 9th. This third instalment in Theatre in the Raw's Untold Stories of Vancouver series looks at events in the 1970's where single mothers stood up to corporations to defend their personal dignity, and their kids! Their efforts efforts led to this sweet pedestrian overpass being built over railroad tracks in order for their children to get safely to school. Learn more HERE.
