"Sol Convenience Store (Broadway and Fraser) was described by the Georgia Straight as the 'BEST PLACE TO REGAIN YOUR FAITH IN HUMANITY' in Vancouver. They weren’t kidding. Started by an Afghan refugee and his entourage, this is the best place to go for a few minutes of friendliness and humour that you are unlikely to find at any other convenience store (or business, or home, or party) in the city. Some days, you will see the owner imparting knowledge to his sons and proteges, some days you will see impromptu birthday parties for staff members. On any day, you will be treated to a joke, a smoke, and the best donair in Vancouver. If you have to run to catch the bus, and don’t have time to wait in line, you can always pay for your stuff later. Is this the best place in the world, or what? |
