It's a pop-up ready space and an idea playground where they've hosted over 70 pop-up concepts since September 2012. Every time a new pop-up is about to launch @thisopenspace, you'll catch a sneak peek here on V.I.A.!

For the second time this year (#platFORMclass, August 2014), post-secondary students are bringing classroom developed products to the real world via a pop-up shop at our Chinatown store and it's going down right now until Sunday.

Students from SFU Beedie's New Product Design and Development course have developed eleven new products this semester that address sustainability in textiles. The new products will be displayed for sale during the four day pop-up with all proceeds going to the budding entrepreneurs.

With supported initiatives like this, Vancouver’s well on it’s way to being the greenest city. These students are addressing sustainability in textiles and considering the circular economy as a model for ethical production and consumption. They’ve planned an event each day themed around the #CircularEconomy – investigating the textiles ecosystem, networking with Vancouver’s leaders, a Design Challenge afternoon and a workshop called WORN. This four-day pop up is happily support by Framworq, National Zero Waste Council, Metro Vancouver, City Studio, Eco Fashion Week, and Basic Design Studio.

If you're wondering just what the heck is a #CircularEconomy, we broked it down briefly in a blog post earlier this week. But we're thinking you'll get better answers by dropping by and chatting with one of the many students at the shop this week. All events are free with registration and you can get the skinny (no fashion pun intended) on all of it here.
