Vancouver on the Cheap: Free Warhol Exhibit

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap".

If you were to create a Venn diagram where one circle was labeled "cheap" and the other labeled "awesome", the middle point where they cross over could be labeled "Vancouver on the Cheap". In other words, this is a weekly series on things to do and places to go in Vancouver that fall into that magical category of being both cheap and awesome.

This month you have free access to something never before seen in our city: 80 original Andy Warhol paintings, all in one place. This exhibit focuses mainly on Warhol's celebrity portraits - everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Wayne Gretzky to Truman Capote - and it is interesting to note that perhaps his personal fame was directly tied to his obsession with celebrity culture (just a little art interpretation to get you started). Regardless of your insights into Warhol's fame, right in the heart of Yaletown, you can walk in for free and check out a good portion of his work at Warhol Vancouver. And if the free admission has you feeling flush, you can always buy a painting to take home with you! (Be warned: this will not be cheap.)
