TELUS and Yellow Cab make a pretty great announcement today: over the next few weeks 350 of the taxi company's cabs (as in, every car in their fleet) will be equipped with free wifi, thanks to the telco and technology from Vancouver's own Colony Networks. You won't need a password and they won't be collecting personal information, you'll just be greeted by a splash page where you'll click YES to be instantly connected.

This comes fresh on the heels of the City ANNOUNCING that TELUS will be supplying us with free Wi-Fi at 43 hotspots in community centres and other city-owned facilities, with no cost to taxpayers. Douglas Coupland's V-POLE concept may not have been as big of a pipe dream as some initially speculated!
