100 People Who'll Make You Love This City Even More.

We’re a couple of local photographers, and for the past year we've been shooting Vancouverites for So It Is: Vancouver , a coffee table book that shows why we’re proud to call this place home.
We’re a couple of local photographers, and for the past year we've been shooting Vancouverites for So It Is: Vancouver, a coffee table book that shows why we’re proud to call this place home. The book profiles a bunch of people who live here today, and through them we tell the story of the city we live in today.

Cory Ashworth and Lizzy Karp at Rain City Chronicles in February. Cory Ashworth and Lizzy Karp at Rain City Chronicles in February.

The first two people we want to talk about are the amazing Lizzy Karp and Cory Ashworth.
Lizzy and Cory co-host Rain City Chronicles, a night of personal stories told by locals that centre around a seemingly random theme. The last one was Guts. Brave speakers get up and tell a room full of strangers all about their darkest, most intimate and most embarrassing moments.
It’s a fun night, but more importantly it’s a glimpse into the remarkable lives of people we share the city with.
The event switches to a new location for each event with the goal of showing you places that you probably don't know about.   There’s food, there’s drink, and there’s a bit of live music thrown into the mix.  But at the heart of the event it’s about bringing people together to connect and share.
This idea of sharing stories is the main theme behind So It Is: Vancouver, which will feature Cory and Lizzy plus a hundred or so other stories that celebrate the city. There's a common element to all the shots - because we live in a rainforest (and to stop people getting too precious about their hair) we soak each person before the shoot. You can't live in Vancouver without getting wet.
We’ll be featuring more stories of remarkable residents over the next few weeks.  If you think this book should hit the shelves before Christmas, we need your help.  We're currently running a pre-sales campaign to print the book on Kickstarter, so check out www.soitisvancouver.com to learn more, spread the word, or maybe even pick up a copy for yourself.
And if you think that you or someone you know should be in the book, drop us an email at info@soit.is.
