Since opening in 1985, Bishop’s Restaurant has remained one of Vancouver’s best fine-dining restaurants as well as achieving both national and international acclaim. Located on Kitsilano’s trendy West 4th Avenue, Bishop’s is the Vancouver dining destination for prime ministers, politicians, foreign diplomats, movie stars, NHL players, and society’s elite. While Vancouver now embraces West Coast cuisine and there are other options for locally focused fine-dining, it is Bishop’s exceptional service where everyone feels like a valued guest that keeps this landmark restaurant one of the best in the city.

hqdefaultWhen John Bishop opened his tiny and intimate restaurant in 1985, fine dining centered around European wine and cuisine. Bishop's was one of the first Vancouver restaurants to embrace West Coast cuisine, working with local farmers and fishermen to create a changing menu based on seasonal ingredients. In the early nineties, Bishop's was one of the first restaurants to list BC Wine on the menu and his support was a big boost to the then young and local wine industry.

John Bishop was not only a pioneer of the local food and wine movement , he proved that fine dining could focus on local Canadian food and wine. John Bishop along with Bishop's Restaurant has won countless local and national awards including being one of the inaugural chefs to receive the prestigious inaugural Governor General’s Award in Celebration of the Nation’s Table for raising awareness for Canadian cuisine.
