We've published a lot of photos from the City of Vancouver Archives over the years but somehow none have felt as "wild West" as this one shot in 1887 looking West down Cordova Street from Carrall. I don't know if it's the absence of much activity save for that one guy and his horse giving the illusion that a shootout was about to go down, or if it's the angle that smacks of an old Clint Eastwood film, but there's just something about it.
It's a far cry from what the street looks like today from the same angle, captured by Google's Street View robot on top of their modern day chuckwagon!
