This #ArtistAtHome is the lovely Michelle Faehrmann. Michelle is a member of Four on the Floor String Quartet, and was the organizer of one of the best Vancouver music events in recent years, String Fling. The event was a celebration of the Vancouver indie music scene, and featured her string quartet collaborating with artists from across a variety of genres (electronic, folk, indie rock, and more). The show featured new renditions of favourite songs by the artists involved, including Jim Byrnes, Shaun Verrault, Ryan Guildemond (Mother Mother), Dan Moxon (Bend Sinister) Tonye Aganaba and many more.

She began classical training on the cello at age four with teacher Sally Gross, who taught her for 14 years in total. A multi-instrumentalist, Michelle also plays the violin, bass, and guitar.

We got together for this photoshoot last February, on the eve of her moving to Toronto, and had a great time cranking up some Katy Perry tunes.

Since arriving in Toronto, she has played consistently with another couple of Vancouver expats, Skye Wallace and David Newberry. Michelle continues to make her way professionally as a session musician and live performer, and has even worked on some film, tv and commercial projects. She still manages Four on the Floor Vancouver and is currently searching for the right players to start a Toronto version.

Looking forward to Michelle's return to Vancouver one day and all the best to her while she is in Ontario.
