Really, how can it not be a good day when the lovely and talented Sadie Campbell is gracing #ArtistAtHome?

Not going to lie here folks - I forgot half of one of my lights at her place after this shoot! YOWZA !!!! Sadie is a great sport and a super cool gal, and we had a ton of fun with this one, despite mashing my knees into the high wooden stool I was perched on to get the shot, while trying not to drop my camera and/or fall. It was all for the 'art' though.

There was a time when Sadie had quit playing music for a year, having been burnt out from playing acoustic cover gigs over and over again. She eventually started hating it. When her sister (who is also a musician) told her about the chance to sing with an original band she was very intrigued. The band was The Chaperones, who were backing up rapper Kyprios. After hearing his music and meeting the other band members, she was in. Sadie credits the move with rekindling her love of music.

The past year has been pretty big for Sadie, with the release of her EP Live Young. The second single 'Closer To The Edge' got airplay on the popular LG 104.3 Blues show, and she also released a video to her song "War" which she dedicates "to all the music makers and risk takers, those that don't give up their dreams or their art when the creative life gets tough." Sadie also opened for a sold out Rodriguez at The Vogue, and had a solo showcase show at the Honda Celebration of Light / SHOREFest. I have had the opportunity to see her play live a few times she definitely has a voice that will make you stand up and take notice.

A large amount of her new material was written while she was traveling through Europe and having a stint as bicycle tour guide in Barcelona, Spain. Sadie has a great philosophy about life and living it with freedom, passion and awareness. She recently partnered with Atira Women's Resource Society in the DTES to have the proceeds from her next single 'Don't Love You No More' donated to them, and she launched an indiegogo campaign (#EmpowerMe) to raise money to create the video, which is intended to raise awareness about domestic violence. The song was co-written with her friend Doug Naugler and features the guitar sounds of master collaborator Shaun Verrault.

Many thanks to Sadie for the excellent visit and heating this project up a whole ton! If you would like to support her #EmpowerMe campaign check out THIS LINK.
