9 Things You Can Do at a Vancouver Canadians Game

You Can Eat a 3 Foot Long Hotdog Yes, it’s really 3 feet long and replaces the old 2 foot long dog. It’s called the ‘Beast of Meat’ and sells for $22.

You Can Eat a 3 Foot Long Hotdog

Yes, it’s really 3 feet long and replaces the old 2 foot long dog. It’s called the ‘Beast of Meat’ and sells for $22. You’d think that 3 feet (sorry, it’s not metric) of meat might have a limited market, but you’d be wrong. The Beast is popular, and there is nothing quite like watching someone carrying a giant hot dog over their shoulder or over their heads. This hero bought two and brought them back to his friends.

You Can Watch Sushi Mascot Races

A tradition since 2008, the 4th inning sushi race pits sushi mascots against each other. BC Roll, Kappa Maki, Chef Wasabi are joined this year Sadaharu Soy (named after a famous Japanese baseball player, Sadaharu Oh). Not only does the crowd get worked up when they are racing but the different racers inspire true fan loyalty. When we went to buy french fries, we heard calls of, “Soy Sauce, wait!” as fans eagerly pursued photos with different sushi athletes. (You can also buy sushi to eat. We've never seen this at a baseball stadium before).

You Can Experience a Bit of Vancouver History

The Bob Brown Bear mascot gets fans dancing between innings and is named after the man who brought Vancouver the first baseball franchise in 1910, the Vancouver Beavers. Nat Bailey, the stadium namesake sold peanuts and hotdogs at one of Bob Brown’s original baseball parks and went on to found the Whitespot franchise. Nat Bailey Stadium has been home to Vancouver baseball since 1951.

You Can See Some Fireworks

If you go to a Vancouver Canadians game on July 9, 23 or 30th or on August 20th, you will get a Fireworks Extravaganza along with your baseball game, which makes the ticket price even more of a bargain.

You Can Take Your Whole Family (including your dog on July 11th)

If you take your family on a Sunday for the A & W Sunday Promotion, the first people under 12 in the stadium (usually the first 500, but for jerseys the first 1000) can win pennants, jerseys, photo balls, lunch bags or umbrellas (depending on the day). Every Sunday children can run the bases postgame. There is also a permanent kids playground set up near the third base food court for restless little ones.

If you hurry and get a ticket, you can even bring your dog on July 11th.

If you can’t go on a Sunday, don’t worry, other games have promotions as well. Just check the Vancouver Canadians schedule and reserve your ticket (With a 97% average sell-out rate, book in advance if you can).

You Can Be a Part of Slug the Mugs

If you’re really lucky, a batter will hit the A & W mug in left or right field and everyone in the audience gets a voucher for a free Teen Burger and A & W Root Beer. We hear that although there has only be one direct hit in the past few years, A & W tends to be pretty generous. A few times per season, when the ball has gone close enough, every fan in attendance has gone home with a voucher.

You Can See Future Professional Major League Players

The only official minor league team in Canada, the Vancouver Canadians are the only affiliated Canadian farm team with the only major league team in Canada, the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2015, five Blue Jays were called up from the Cs.

You Can Make It A Party

One option is the Hey Y’all porch reserved group seating, which comes with all you can eat ballpark menu, and Hey Y’all! Southern Style Hard Iced Teas. You have to have a group of at least 30 people to book these special covered bleachers with counter tops in front of each fan, just beyond the left field fence. Call the Vancouver Canadians at 604.872.5232 to reserve in advance.

Another option is to book an all-you-can-eat BBQ picnic in the park. Groups of 30 to 400 people can reserve this space with tables, chairs and umbrellas for $37 a person ($25 for kids). Check the Vancouver Canadians website for meal and snack choices.

A third option is that you can book the The Coors Light Executive Dugout Suite (1st baseline - seats 30 people) or the Whistler Brewing 3rd Base Suite (seats 25) for you and your friends, family or workplace.

You Can Feel Like a Part of Community

Even if you don’t go with a group, the fun atmosphere at the games and the cheap ticket prices make the game feel like you just wandered into a friendly backyard party. Even the staff seem to be having a good time and work to make sure you do too. Reserved box seats are $14, reserved grandstand seats are $18, and if you want to order food and drinks from a server, WestJet Box seats (with cup holders and seat service) are only $25.
