Percy Williams
Raised high by cheering teammates, gold medalist Percy Williams of Vancouver had won both the 200 and 100-metre dash at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. When he returned to Vancouver he was greeted with a waste-paper parade (the Vancouver equivalent of a ticker- tape parade) on Granville Street.
