Between The Bumpers: Pinball Heaven Comes to MOV This Fall

If you’ve ever got an adrenaline rush from watching that little silver ball ricochet off those deceptively small paddles, then you’re going to love what the Museum of Vancouver has in store for this Fall…

MOV Pinball 1Starting next month, the MOV is presenting not one, not two, but THREE Pinball themed events, each perfectly suited for lovers of loud noises, flashing lights and high scores!

On Thursday, October 6th, join International Pinball Tournament Champion Robert Gagno and local pinball collector and All Together Now contributor, Kyle Seller and for a Q&A session that covers the local pinball scene, pinball obsessions, and the role pinball has played in developing their friendship. These guys are some of the most knowledgeable pinball aficionados out there and they’re ready to answer your questions. Maybe they’ll even give you some insight on how to be come a pinball wizard in your own right.

MOV Pinball 2As if that weren’t enough, the MOV will also be presenting Happy Hour: TILT! Public Pinball Tournament on Thursday, October 13! That’s right; this is your chance to go head-to-head against fellow pinball enthusiasts on 8 sought-after machines from pinball history including Funhouse (1988), Cyclone (1988) and Jack-Bot (1995). Hosted again by local pinball collector, All Together Now exhibition contributor and Stacked Pinball League coordinator Kyle Seller, the tournament will be open to players of all experience levels. There will also be drinks courtesy of Prospect Winery.

Finally, on November 1st, join the museum of Vancouver for a special screening of Wizard Mode! In the game of pinball, there is no greater reward than Wizard Mode – a hidden level that is unlocked when a player completes a  series of lightning speed challenges. Vancouver filmmakers Nathan Drillot and Jeff Petry capture a portrait of silver ball passion that you've never seen before.
