Sweet Treat #14: Yao Tiao at Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie
As soon as we waked inside Chinatown's Bao Bei, we suspected there might be some excellent sweet treats afoot. The restaurant itself reminded us of a great dessert; small, pretty an full of surprises. After enjoying more than a few savoury dishes, we were delighted to try their Chinese doughnuts, or Yao Tiao. The dough is delicate and full of flavour, which is complimented by the dusting of mandarin powdered sugar. The combo of dulce de leche and chill glaze however, is what really sets the dish off. A must-try for sure!
