Possibly the darkest horse on the list is Hendricks, the new-ish restaurant inside downtown's Westin Grand Hotel. On their dinner menu you'll find a worthy contender to warm you up in their Fire Roasted Tomato & Gin Soup which is served with gooey grilled cheese bites. If you ask nicely though, the kitchen may be able to whip up this grown up palate pleaser at lunch time.

Address: Lobby Level, Westin Grand,  433 Robson Street

The Red Wagon

If you can manage to pass over the long list of tantalizing breakfast options at this popular East Van diner on their all-day menu, give Red Wagon's Grilled Cheese and Smokey Tomato Soup combo a go. Their sandwich is grilled up with a tasty trio of cheddar, goat, and Swiss cheese on brioche and pairs nicely with their creamy, smokey soup.

Banter Room

Banter Room is a buzzy new spot in Yaletown that might best be known for their champagne vending machine. (Yep.) But they do have a Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup combo on their lunch menu you can tuck into, champagne optional. The sandwich is made on your choice of sourdough or whole wheat bread (gluten-free available) with swiss, mozzarella, cheddar, and goat cheese, and comes with their creamy roasted tomato soup.
