The City of Vancouver is accepting proposals for outdoor murals and other two-dimensional pieces from Indigenous artists as part of its City of Reconciliation programming.
"Through this call, we hope to provide new opportunities for Indigenous recognition, celebration, and participation," says Branislav Henselmann, managing director of cultural services.
The city is looking for unique original work that is accessible to the public and that will be completed in the fall. A range of mediums will be considered including brush or aerosol paint and graphic prints.
"Public art provides exposure for contemporary artists working today, while also serving as a public connection to our life in a city that is home to many Indigenous peoples and situated on the unceded and ancestral homelands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations," Henselmann said.
Artist proposals should be submitted online before 4 p.m. on April 18.
