Local filmmakers Alex Konyves and Matt Showell have launched an interesting video project. Canoe Sessions has a fairly simple premise: partner musicians with a canoe and a nature-filled backdrop and have them play an acoustic set. Package it up in a nice video, publish, and repeat.
The development of the project was organic, coming out of the two going for paddles and ending up with a guitar and different musicians in the boat. Konyves and Showell both have off-road vehicles (perfect for putting a canoe on top of) and they love the outdoors and music. Showell told me over email that "this is a fun way to combine them".
The first session they've released is this one with Buckman Coe, below. They ventured up Indian Arm near Belcarra where he performed his song “So It Goes” off of his newest album. Enjoy it.
