Police say they are investigating after a 23-year-old Vancouver woman was struck by a vehicle last night and died in hospital this morning.
The woman and her friend were in a crosswalk on East 12 Avenue at Clark Drive when she was struck by a white Honda Civic turning west from Clark at about 9:15 p.m.
Paramedics took her to the hospital with what police say was originally believed to be minor injuries but her condition deteriorated overnight and she died. Her name has not been released to the public.
The 61-year-old driver from Vancouver remained on scene and is cooperating with officers.
Police say impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in this collision.
This is Vancouver’s second pedestrian death of 2018.
