Vancouver police are looking for any witnesses after a curious incident at a local church.

Just before 7 p.m. on April 5, parishioners were gathering inside Standard Holiness Church, which is located on East 22nd Avenue and Lillooet Street, when they heard a noise near the front door.

“When the congregation tried to open the door, they realized that it had been secured from the outside,” said Sgt. Jason Robillard, media relations officer. He added that everyone was able to leave the building through a side door.

Robillard said at this point police don’t know if it was just a prank or if the perpetrators had other motives.

“Without knowing the motive, we are quite concerned.”

Investigators are looking for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at or near the church, or who has information regarding the incident, to call 604-717-0510 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
