The BC Centre for Disease Control says four shellfish farms linked to the norovirus outbreak have been closed.

BCCDC says there have been 132 cases of illness recorded in B.C. as of April 26 and adds that the number of new cases reported has decreased in the last week.

An investigation has found that most people were infected after eating oysters harvested in south and central Baynes Sound area, according to a release.

The Public Health Agency of Canada says the decrease in the number of cases indicates that the outbreak might be slowing but the investigation into a specific source of contamination impacting the shellfish farms is ongoing.

PHAC says individuals became sick between mid-March and mid-April 2018.
