Grant Lawrence's weekly column got some attention yesterday. If you didn't read it yet check out "Why Vancouver’s soaring gas prices are a good thing" then loop back here.
We got a slew of comments on Facebook and some on Twitter, and I've decided to share some of the more interesting ones (and the ones that got the most engagement) here. As we continue to share more stories about the proposed Trans Mountain pipeline twinning and gas prices (related? unrelated?), we're open to showing more than one side of these divisive issues.
Or, that is, issue. Most people seemed to agree that rising gas prices are not awesome.
Here's one of the most insightful threads that spun off from our tweet:
3. Electric Vehicles are wonderfully affordable if you got a nice job that can afford the upfront cost, and have MAYBE one kid, maximum. Otherwise you’re looking at an SUV/Mini Van situation, and those start at like 72k just for a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

This next one gets our publication mixed up with our columnist. Grant writes an opinion column, which is not always the opinion that the editorial staff of V.I.A. shares. It's his opinion. We can be idiots sometimes too (or at least I can), so perhaps this is more of a general comment.
This one gets directly to the point. Laser focused:
This person took a lot of time to talk about climate change and owning a vehicle. A number of other people responded to what she wrote, sparking a lively debate:
Not everyone agreed or disagreed with the column, and it actually spun off some fairly civil conversations.
HERE is the original post to Facebook if you'd like to read what everyone had to say.
