Water taxi to Bowen suspends its Coal Harbour commuter run as of May 18

Bowen Land and Sea Taxi is stopping its commuter water taxi service to Coal Harbour as of May 18.

Bowen Land and Sea Taxi is stopping its commuter water taxi service to Coal Harbour as of May 18.

“We have made the difficult decision to shut down our Bowen Services altogether until a new dock arrangement can be made,” said a post form the taxi service’s Facebook page Friday afternoon.

In February the company lost access to their Harbour Green dock in Coal Harbour when the park board closed the public dock for repairs. It temporarily had to shut down its service, which is popular with islanders who work in downtown Vancouver.

Although owner Mike Shannon quickly found a new one farther west, the change in location led to fewer passengers, according to the Facebook post.

The post also says that weekend service is cancelled until further notice.
