FortisBC has posted its Vancouver and Burnaby construction schedule for the new gas line it's putting in.

The utility is replacing 20 kilometres of 20-inch gas line with a 30-inch steel gas line running from Vancouver to Coquitlam.

The existing gas line has been in service since the 1950s and is nearing the end of its operating life.

In Vancouver, the most significant impact will be along East First Avenue. The route was chosen based on several factors, including creating a safe workspace for crews.

Businesses along the route will be kept open during construction, but might be more difficult to access, according to Fortis.
