The City of Vancouver has announced a day at the dump! The official name is the Vancouver Landfill Open House and it takes place on June 2nd from 10am-2pm. It actually looks to be pretty fascinating.

At the "world of Transfer and Landfill operations" they aim to show you where your garbage, food scraps and green waste ends up.

They're billing the highlights of the event as:

- Hop inside and pretend you’re the operator of landfill equipment

- Take a wheelchair accessible guided bus tour of the landfill

- Meet the trained hawks and other members of the Bird Control Team

- Visit interactive displays on zero waste and environmental conservation

- Get creative with face painting, Junkology, science activities, a giant sandbox, and more

- Snack on free food and refreshments

And they want you to bring the following:

- Reusable water bottle

- Sunscreen and hats

- Mobility equipment (the event is on flat ground, and there will be a place to leave your equipment during the bus tours)

- Appetite for food and learning

And don't bring this stuff:

- Pets (even rats; they might have enough of those already)

- Chairs and umbrellas
