Cornelia Hahn Oberlander has been promoted to a Companion of the Order of Canada, which is the highest level within the order, for her leadership in landscape architecture. Oberlander received the Order of Canada in 1990 and was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2009.

She designed the three block roof garden at Robson Square and the landscape at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC working with architect Arthur Erickson. Oberlander designed the gardens at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa and the Children's Creative Centre at Expo 67 in Montreal.

Multi-faceted conceptual artist Rodney Graham has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada. Graham was born in Abbotsford but now lives in Vancouver. He's exhibited in New York, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, London, Italy and the Netherlands. Graham's work in photography, film, music, performance, drawing and painting is often informed by pop culture and literary references.

Gwawaenuk First Nation hereditary chief Robert Joseph is the founder and ambassador of Reconciliation Canada, which fosters strengthened relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in communities across the country. Joseph is a residential school survivor and has played an active role in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission as an honorary witness. He's now an Officer of the Order of Canada.

Libby Davies was born in England and moved to Vancouver in 1969 and is being made a Member of the Order of Canada this week. Davies helped found the Downtown Eastside Resident's Association and was a Vancouver city councillor from 1982 to 1993 then a member of Parliament for Vancouver East from 1997 to 2015. She was Deputy Leader of the federal NDP from 2007-2015 and served as the NDP House Leader from 2003 to March 2011.

Canada's Governor General Julie Payette will invest 3 companions, 12 officers and 30 members into the Order of Canada at a ceremony at Rideau Hall on May 10 at 1:30 PDT.
