Protect your pet bunny from catching rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD) by participating in a public vaccination clinic at the BC SPCA's Vancouver Animal Hospital on on June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The highly contagious disease can kill a rabbit within 36 hours and vaccines were imported from Europe after an outbreak on Vancouver Island in March.

The BC SPCA says the goal of the clinic is to make the vaccine accessible to low-income pet owners, those that have multiple rabbits or do not have a regular veterinarian.

It costs $50 per rabbit for the vaccine and a brief examination but individuals facing financial challenges or with multiple rabbits should ask if they are eligible for additional support when they book an appointment.

“We want to ensure that rabbit guardians in the area have access to this important vaccine to protect their pets,” says Dr. Emilia Gordon, BC SPCA senior manager of animal health.

The BC SPCA Vancouver Animal Hospital is located and 1205 E. 7th Avenue. Call 604-879-3571 or email to book an appointment.
