Controversial UofT psychology professor Jordan Peterson is coming to Vancouver to promote his bestselling self-help book, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote for Chaos.

Peterson has criticized political correctness and opposed a 2016 bill (Bill C-16) that he believes would require him to use genderless pronouns such as "they" instead of "he" or "she."

He's a clinical psychologist, cultural critic and former Harvard professor with a YouTube channel that has over 800,000 subscribers.

In a recent interview with The New York Times he's asked about Alek Minassian, who drove his van through Toronto killing 10 people and was charged with first-degree murder for their deaths and attempted murder for injuring 16 other people. Minassian declared himself as part of a group called 'incels' or involuntary celibates.

Peterson says Minassian was angry at god because women were rejecting him and violent attacks happen when men do not have partners. The cure, he says, is enforced monogamy.

Student groups have organized protests against his speaking events in the past while critics have accused him of being transphobic and being representative of the alt-right.

He will be speaking at the UBC Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, July 26.

Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 18 and are available through Live Nation, the Chan Centre box office or over the phone at 604-822-2697.
