Well, almost. Everything Wine is holding a free, walk-around wine tasting of only premium Cabernet Sauvignon in their River District store (8570 River District Crossing) this Saturday, May 26 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm.

With a focus on Napa and Sonoma Cabs (but including Cabs from Italy and Australia), the tasting is called Cab-Topia, denoting a place where Cabernet flows and no one is angry and nobody will ever hurt you again.

Cabernet Sauvignon has enjoyed a slow, steady rise in popularity that has survived and outlived the ebb and flow of more temporary stars like Chardonnay and Merlot (both of which are amazing grapes, but their peak of market share is in the rear view). It’s grown in almost every wine growing region (except Winnipeg, those salty rebels) and almost always makes large, structured wines that pair with nearly anything your grill will throw at you.

The wines of Cab-Topia are:

Caymus 2015, Napa Valley $99.99 (94 Parker)

Quilt 2014, Napa Valley, $62.99

Penfolds Bin 407 2015, South Australia, $99.99 (96 Halliday)

Chappellet 2014, Napa Valley, $79.99 (94 Parker)

Bootleg 2013, Napa Valley, $53.99 (94 Parker)

Arrowood 2013, Knights Valley $51.49

Freemark Abbey Bosche 2012, Napa Valley $121.99 (97 Parker)

Campo al Mare Bolgheri 2015, Tuscany $46.99 (94 Suckling, 93 Spectator)

No tickets are need for the event, it’s a drop-in tasting inside the store. Much Cab-ness will be experienced by all.
